If minor imperfections in your smile are causing you to feel self-conscious, we can help you achieve enhanced aesthetics in as little as two weeks. Porcelain veneers, available at our Brooklyn office, are custom-made shells that attach to the front surface of teeth to conceal chips, cracks, intrinsic stains, slight misalignment, and inconsistent shaping. Dr. Herskovits is an expert cosmetic dentist who can help you achieve a beautiful, symmetrical smile with just one or two porcelain veneers. He also provides LUMINEERS®, a modern variation on traditional veneers that requires virtually no dental preparation. Contact us today to learn how this treatment can help your smile look its very best.
Placing traditional porcelain veneers begins with the preparation of the teeth you wish to treat. Dr. Herskovits will remove a small amount of enamel - roughly equal to the thickness of an egg shell - from the front surface of the teeth. Next, he will take impressions of the teeth, which will be sent to a trusted offsite laboratory. Technicians will use these impressions to create your custom veneers. Creating veneers usually takes two to three weeks. In the meantime, we will provide temporary veneers. When your custom veneers are complete, you will return to our office to have them bonded permanently in place.
We also offer LUMINEERS®, which are very similar to traditional veneers, but they are ultra-thin, and require little or no preparation of the teeth. Unlike traditional veneers, LUMINEERS® are considered a reversible treatment. Patients who choose traditional veneers, on the other hand, will always require some kind of restoration on their teeth. Depending upon a patient's goals and smile characteristics, traditional veneers may be a better solution than LUMINEERS®. During an initial consultation, Dr. Herskovits can help you decide which is the better choice.
Dental veneers can make a dramatic enhancement, but they are not right for everyone. If you are experiencing oral health issues like gum disease or tooth decay, these must be addressed before veneers can be placed. If your smile is severely misaligned, Dr. Herskovits may recommend Invisalign® instead. However, if the imperfections of your smile are purely superficial, veneers may be an excellent option for achieving your goals.
Our team can help you understand the differences between traditional veneers and LUMINEERS® as well as the cost of each. The cost you will pay for veneers is dependent upon several factors that we will discuss with you as well as your financing options.
